We welcome you to stay with us at our traditional country inn in Horam, East Sussex.
All bedrooms are equipped with ensuite shower bathrooms, comfortable beds, flat screen TVs, iPod docks, radio alarms, and free WiFi for internet access. We have large double rooms with king size beds, and larger rooms with super-king size beds that can be used as twin beds if necessary, as well as having space for a fold-out single bed – suitable for a child.
Our rooms retain some traditional features of the historic site, but are newly renovated within the original stables of the building to be well insulated for warmth and quiet, as well as having new wiring, plumbing, heating, windows, decorations, and upholstery. We are a historic village pub located in Horam, East Sussex, our historic establishment is near Heathfield and Hailsham making for a convenient location to experience the best that small town England has to offer while staying in luxurious accommodation.

Please Note: On Fridays we occasionally have music playing which finishes at 11:45 p.m. Our pub remains open until around 12:30 a.m. at those times. Noise levels are generally low, but this should be considered for those who are light sleepers.
Food at the May Garland
We offer a great full English breakfast on weekends included in our Bed and Breakfast rate but not in the room only rate, and of course we will make you a delicious evening meal Please visit our food section for details. We use locally grown ingredients and our menu varies during the year depending on what is in season.
Booking Terms & Conditions
Please read the following terms and conditions before booking.
Check in is between 14:30 and 20:00 however we do not guarantee the room is available until 16:30.(other times by arrangement). Check out is by 10:30 please so we can be ready for new arrivals (other times by arrangement)
Due to COVID no breakfast service is currently available. In normal times Breakfast is served between 09:00 and 11:30 on Friday, Saturday & Sunday only (other times by arrangement). Please inquire for prior agreement if other times are required.
Babies stay free if you bring you own travel cot however only 2 persons can share the bed a third person is only accepted on the sofa bed.
We recognise sometimes plans have to be altered however in order to be able to guarantee all our guests the availability of the accommodation they booked we need to make certain cancellation charges per room at the May Garland Inn: Bookings cancelled more than 4 week(s) before 20:00 on the day of check in will incur a charge of £25.00. Bookings cancelled less than 4 week(s) before 20:00 on the day of check in will incur a charge of the first nights stay. Bookings cancelled less than 2 week(s) before 20:00 on the day of check in will incur a charge of 100% of the booking total.
We recommend using travel insurance which covers cancellation charges.
Christmas & New Year
DURING CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR – 20th December to 4th January — Full payment will be required for any cancellation less than 35 days prior to arrival.
In the case of loss or damage caused by any guest or soiling/bleeding/cosmetics stains/smoking necessitating remedial work repair/replacement or extra cleaning/hygiene – treatment will be charged against your card used to guarantee the booking or pay the deposit.
